Water Utility Assistance - Help on Tap

Where:  United Way of Eddy County Office - 116 S. Canyon
Hours:  Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm (Arrive at least 30 minutes prior to closing)

Eligibility: Income based 
Documents to submit with application:

• Current water utility bill
• Identification for all adults and children living in the home
• Verification of Income for all adults living in the home; 

Amount of Assistance:  Up to $120 once a calendar year paid directly to the utility company - If balance due is more than $120, remaining balance must be paid before the $120 payment is processed.  No late fees or disconnect fees will be paid.

NM Gas Utility Assistance -  Heat New Mexico

Where:  United Way of Eddy County Office - 116 S. Canyon

Eligibility: Income based
Documents to submit:

• Current NM Gas bill (cannot be more than 45 days old)
• Identification for all adults and children living in the home
• Verification of Income for all adults living in the home; 
• Li-Heap approval/unable to assist letter.  After October of every year, a new Li-Heap application must be completed.  Li-Heap can be applied for at the Income Support office or online at  at Yes! New Mexico.  Individuals over the age of 65 are not required to apply for Li-Heap.

Assistance:  $150 once a calendar year paid directly to NM Gas.  

NOTE:  Once you complete the application and have all necessary documentation, deliver it to 116 S Canyon in Carlsbad or call 575-887-3504 to make other arrangements. 

Assistance is available from October 1st to August 31st or as funding allows.  To verify if funding is available, call 211 from any phone in Eddy County. 

Xcel Energy Assistance
